This was awesome. I was diagnosed with Adult ADHD a month ago in January 2025 and stated medication right away. This was the BEST thing to ever happen in my life. It’s like putting on glasses for the first time in 54 years and never knowing you need them. I’m in Australia and it’s much easier to get diagnosed here than for you in the UK. When I listened to this, I hear so many things I relate to.
I have read so many books and watched loads of videos and I want to recommend 2 books to you:
Journeys into Addulthood by Sari Solden (no ebook exists for this unfortunately but there is an audiobook) and Its Not Bloody Trend by UK journalist Kat Brown. They’re the best of the bunch, really talking about the emotional and psychological effects - not just coping strategies. I urge you to listen/read them even before your diagnosis as some of your comments and feelings are very accurately described in them. I’m in the “I have a new personality” and “who am I more” phase. Please keep us updated. ❤️
Thank you for this. I listened to it on January 27 and I’m very glad that you’re still here and laughing (which is a tonic all on its own, believe me). Sending this to you from an elderly Canadian actor who wishes you and your family much peace and happiness always.
